Senior leader Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Khalid Ahmed Khan Kharal has died here in Lahore after prolonged illness, family sources said on Sunday. In a condolence message the former candidate for national assembly and senior journalist stated he was a great man a great politician’’ I am at a total loss of words of what to write or say to you to console you for the loss of Mr. Khalid Ahmed Khan Kharal.’’I am deeply and sincerely sorry for the loss of your father, he added. I know that no one can take Mr. Khalid Ahmed Khan Kharal ’s place. There will never be another man like him.’’The 78-year-old, who served as federal minister, will be laid to rest at his ancestral city in Kamalia. Late Khalid Ahmed Khan Kharal belongs to the Lakhera Kharal clan based in Kot Kamal Khan also known as Kamalia now. He was born in 1939 in Kamalia.Kamalia town was founded by and named after Kharal chief, Khan Kamal Khan Kharal, in the 14th Century and was, historically, known as “Kot Kamalia”. During the Indian Rebellion of 1857, it was one of the sites of an uprising by the local people, who held it for a week. In 1901, Kamalia had a population of 6,976. Kamalia was historically part of the erstwhile district and tehsil of Montgomery (Sahiwal), Punjab.Mr.Khalid Ahmed Khan Kharal remained an influential member of the Pakistan People’s Party from 1977 to 2012 and remained a Federal Minister twice in the government of Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto in 1988-1990 and 1993-1996. He joined the Central Civil Services of Pakistan as an Assistant Commissioner in 1963. He served in important positions such as Director Industries Département Punjab, Director Food Department Punjab, Deputy Commissioner and Political Agent in Dera Ghazi Khan, Deputy Commissioner Larkana and Commissioner Larkana when Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was the Prime Minister. He was considered a close confidant of Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. He was imprisoned during Zia ul Haq’s Martial Law to testify against Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and upon his refusal he left the country in exile and joined the Government of Abu Dhabi as an Adviser on Economic Development. He lived in Abu Dhabi for 15 years and currently lives in Lahore, Pakistan. He has been elected as a Member of the National Assembly from the Kamalia Constituency. He is considered a very influential person in his district. In 2007 he announced that he would not be contesting the upcoming general elections. His son, Haider Ali Khan Kharal would be contesting instead of him from the PPPP ticket. He joined Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf due to his differences with the new PPP leadership under President Asif Ali Zardari but later in January 2017 he rejoined Pakistan People’s Party along with Faisal Saleh Hayat after they had a meeting with Asif Ali Zardari in Bilawal House Karachi.

،،قومی سلامتی کمیٹی اجلاس میں امریکی صدر ڈونلڈ ٹرمپ کے پاکستان مخالف الزامات سختی سے مسترد، دہشت گردی کے خلاف جنگ میں بے پناہ قربانیاں ، 120 ارب ڈالر سے زیادہ نقصان ہوا،پاکستانی وزیر خارجہ خواجہ آصف اسلام آباد ( اصغر علی مبارک سے )قومی سلامتی کمیٹی نے واضح کیاھے کہ پاکستانیوں کی جانیں اتنی ہی قیمتی ہیں جتنا کسی دوسرے ملک کے شہریوں کی ہیں، عالمی برادری مل کر افغانستان سے دہشت گردوں کی محفوظ پناہ گاہیں ختم کرائے اور باڈر مینجمنٹ، افغان مہاجرین کی واپسی اور افغان مسئلے کے سیاسی حل میں مدد کرے اجلاس کے بعد جاری اعلامیہ میں کہا گیا کہ امریکا، افغانستان میں آپریشن کے لیے 2001 سے اب تک پاکستان کی فضائی حدود استعمال کر رہا ہے، پاکستان کو اربوں ڈالر امداد کے دعوے عالمی برادری کو گمراہ کرنے کے مترادف ہیں، مذکورہ رقم پاکستان کی فضائی حدود اور دیگر سہولیات استعمال کرنے پر دی گئی، جبکہ مالی امداد کے بجائے عالمی برادری ہزاروں پاکستانیوں کی جانوں کی قربانیوں اور 120 ارب ڈالر کے نقصان کو تسلیم کرےقومی سلامتی کمیٹی کے اجلاس کے بعد سینیٹ میں پالیسی بیان دیتے ہوئےپاکستانی وزیر خارجہ خواجہ آصف نے کہا ھے کہ قومی سلامتی کمیٹی اجلاس میں امریکی صدر ڈونلڈ ٹرمپ کے پاکستان پر الزامات کو سختی سے مسترد کردیا ہے۔ خواجہ آصف نے کہا کہ پاکستان نے پرامن افغانستان کے لیے تمام عالمی کوششوں کی حمایت کی ھے لیکن پاکستان کو قربانی کا بکرا بنانے سے افغانستان مستحکم نہیں ہوگا۔خواجہ آصف نے کہا کہ نے کہا کہ پاکستان افغانستان کو غیر مستحکم نہیں کر رہا، پاکستان نے پرامن افغانستان کے لیے تمام عالمی کوششوں کی حمایت کی ہے اور ہمیشہ دہشت گردوں کے خلاف بلاامتیاز کارروائی کی ہے۔وزیر خارجہ خواجہ آصف نے کہا کہ پاکستان میں افغان تنازع سے مہاجرین، منشیات اور اسلحہ آیا اور پاکستان کے خلاف افغانستان میں محفوظ پناہ گاہیں بنیں، پاکستان افغانستان کو مستحکم کرنے کے لیے تمام عالمی کوششوں کا ساتھ دیتا رہے گا ۔وزیر خارجہ کا کہنا تھا کہ پاکستان نے دہشت گردی کے خلاف جنگ میں بے پناہ قربانیاں دی ہیں، دہشت گردی کے خلاف جنگ میں ہمیں 120 ارب ڈالر سے زیادہ نقصان ہوا، آج بھی پاکستان کو مشرق اور مغربی سرحد سے غیر مستحکم کرنے کی کوشش کی جارہی ہے، پاکستان اپنی سرزمین کسی ملک کے خلاف تشدد کے لیے استعمال نہیں ہونے دیتا لیکن دوسرے ممالک سے بھی ایسا ہی تعاون چاہتا ہے۔قبل ازیں وزیر اعظم شاہد خاقان عباسی کے زیر صدارت قومی سلامتی کمیٹی کے اجلاس میں امریکی صدر ڈونلڈ ٹرمپ کی جانب سے پاکستان کے خلاف ہرزہ سرائی اور الزامات کو یکسر مسترد کردیا تھا۔

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi chaired the Federal Cabinet’s meeting here today in Islamabad. Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif briefed the Cabinet on US President’s statement. Appointment of PIACL Chief Executive Officer was also approved for a probationary period of 90 days with a 2-year contract. The Cabinet directed the Aviation Division secretary to ensure submission of a business plan for the profitability of PIA within 60 days of appointment. The Cabinet further approved increasing and re-fixing of the number of commissioners in Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan to seven. Also, an approval was given to exempt from payment of taxes, duties, levies etc under the grants received from global fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria (GFATM). Maximum retail prices of life-saving drugs were also approved and the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination Division was assigned the task to ensure availability of quality life-saving drugs within reasonable pricing to the common people in commensurate with the national drug policy. The Cabinet approved the execution and completion of ongoing gas development schemes and launch of new projects under present government for providing gas to far flung areas subject to availability of funds. Furthermore, the Cabinet approved the initiation of negotiation on Inter-Government Agreement between Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Resources, the government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the government of the Republic of Nigeria on the cooperation in the field of oil and gas.

Asia Cup 2017 Hockey tournament will be held at Dhaka, Bangladesh from 11th October to 22nd October2017 BY;ASGHAR ALI MUBARAK Islamabad .The 2017 Men’s Hockey Asia Cup will be the tenth tournament to date in Hockey Asia Cup for men. It will be held from 11th to 22nd October 2017 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The winner of this tournament will qualify for the 2018 World Cup in India. The participants teams for Asia Cup 2017 Hockey tournament are Pakistan, India, Japan and Bangladesh in Pool A, while Malaysia, Korea, China and Oman are in Pool B. The Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) announced the schedule for Hero Men’s Asia Cup 2017, which is to be held in Bangladesh in October this year. The 10th edition of the quadrennial event will take place at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium in Dhaka, returning to Bangladesh for the first time since 1985. The tournament will take place from October 11 to 22, 2017, the federation stated in a press release. The Asia Cup introduced in 1982, the inaugural Men’s Asia Cup was won by Pakistan, who also won the next two editions in 1985 and 1989. Since then, India (2003, 2007) and Korea (1993, 1999, 2009 and 2013) have also been champions in the nine editions played so far. The tournament will witness stiff competition among the top-performing teams from across Asia with big stakes at play, the biggest incentive being a direct ticket for the winning team to the World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Bhubaneswar, India from November 28 to December 16, 2018.This year, the tournament will feature host nation Bangladesh along with China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Oman and Pakistan. India is the top-ranked team among the competing teams at 6th position in the latest World Rankings, while Korea, the current title holder, is ranked 13th. World number 12 Malaysia, after an excellent performance in the recent Hockey World League semi-final in London, and world number 14 Pakistan round up the mix of teams.

RALWALPINDI CORPS TEAM WON PACES TROPHY BY.ASGHAR ALI MUBARAK RAWALPINDI, Th Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Okara Cantt on the conclusion of 6th Army PACES (Physical Agility and Combat Efficiency System) Championship and distributed awards to the winners. A total no of 250 contestants from 10 best teams participated in different events of championship which was held from 9 – 18 Aug 2017. PACES is a concept introduced in the Pakistan Army in 2010 by revamping existing physical training methods with the objective to improve the fitness and agility of troops. The concept flourished and later on the armies of other countries also adopted it in their training programs. PACES Competition is an exceptional and distinctive physical fitness competition calling for demonstration of strength, agility and endurance skills. Participants of 6th Army PACES Championship exhibited undying spirit and stamina. While speaking on occasion, COAS appreciated the physical fitness standards displayed by the participants of the competition and efforts of both trainers and trainees in achieving those standards. He said that regardless of the advances in warfare technology, the basic traits of soldiering are linked with physical fitness. Rawalpindi Corps team won the 6th Army PACES Championship while Karachi Corps team won the 2nd Position in the competition. Sepoy Zahir Shah won the overall best player award of the competition and Sepoy Nasir Ullah secured overall 2nd Position. In individual matches, Sepoy Ashir Masih secured first position in 3.2 Km run by covering distance in 09:57 minutes. Sepoy Shamraze Shaheen won first position by completing combat efficiency test in 53.26 seconds. Sepoy Jamshaid Khan did 112 pull ups to clinch 1st position in pull ups match. Sepoy Ashir Azeem secured first position in sit up match by doing 2377 sit ups. Sepoy Irfan Riaz did 1503 push ups to secure first position. Lieutenant General Hidayat Ur Rehman, Inspector General Training and Evaluation and Commander Bahawalpur Corps, Lieutenant General Sher Afgun were also present on the occasion. Earlier, on arrival at Okara Cantt, COAS was received by Lieutenant General Sarfraz Sattar commander 2 Corps well come the chief guest.
