The outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ended the ceasefire agreed with the government in June and ordered its terrorists to launch attacks across the country.
In a statement released by the TTP, it was said that “All the group leaders of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan Ministry of Defense, Tehreek officials and governors are ordered to carry out attacks wherever they can reach across the country”. It has been said that “continuous operations are being carried out by military organizations in various areas including Lakki Marwat of Bannu district and an unstoppable series of counter-attacks has started”.
Addressing the people of Pakistan, the outlawed TTP said, “We warned you many times and continued to be patient so that the negotiation process was not sabotaged at least by us, but the army and intelligence agencies did not stop and the attacks continued.” Continue’.
The statement added that “now our revenge attacks will also start across the country”.
On the other hand, no statement has yet come out from the side of the government and the security forces in this regard.
It should be remembered that the Pakistani government’s talks with the outlawed TTP started in October last year but were suspended in December.
Later, in May this year, the talks resumed but failed due to differences of opinion as they demanded that the status of merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa be abolished.
As a result of the failure of negotiations, the outlawed TTP launched attacks which escalated in September and most of the attacks took place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, South Waziristan and North Waziristan districts.
The Federal Ministry of Interior had warned in October that peace talks between the TTP and the government of Pakistan, which have been going on for more than a year, are deadlocked and that there are differences within the TTP.
In this regard, the TTP had accused the Pakistan government of failing to fulfill its basic demands, including ending the merger of the former FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as well as the release of arrested TTP members. to be released even though negotiations were ongoing at that time.
The intirior Ministry had also identified sub-groups of the TTP that have split from ISIS and are associating with the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group for terrorist activities.
