Islamabad- As many as eight players qualified for main round of Subh-e-Nau National Clay Court Tennis Championship 2016which started here at PTF Complex Tennis Courts. M, Waqas Malik, who appeared on national circuit after a gap of 3 years, played well to qualify for main round of Men’s Singles.The other players who reached main round of this category after winning 2 matched each included Raja Shahid, Shakirullah, Irfanullah, Malik Hamza, Asadullah, Syed NofilKaleem and Huzaifa Abdul Rehman. First round matched of this Men’s Singles. In Six days long Subh-e-Nau National Clay Court Tennis Championship 2016, Pakistan number one player Aqeel Khan, Davis Cupper M. Abid, Shahzad khan, Heera Ashiq, M. Mudassar, M. Muzammil, top seed ladies players Sara Mansoor and Meheq Khokhar are participating this tennis gala. The Chairperson Tournament organizing committee Shahida Kausar Farooq said that this tournament is another step for Subh-e-Nau for promoting the game of tennis which is not widely promoted in the country. She said that for last 26 years. Subh-e-Nau has proved itself as a torch bearer in tennis promotion activities with a track record of hosting dozens of international, national and domestic events. She said that Clay Court tennis events were revived by Subh-e-Nau back in 2003 and since then it is hosting these events regularly on annual basis. The finals of the tournament will be played on Saturday 14th May.
