Army’s reiteration of non-interference in political affairs
By; Asghar Ali Mubarak
Rawalpindi……..
Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa says that by creating a fake narrative, excitement was created in the country. I want to say that the leadership of the army can do anything “but can never go against the interest of the country”, do you think that “there is an external conspiracy in the country and the armed forces sit idly by?” General Qamar Javed Bajwa said, “It is impossible, but it is a great sin.” Speaking at the solemn ceremony of Defense Day and Martyrs at GHQ, General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that “Criticism of the army is the right of the people and political parties.” But one should be careful in the choice and use of words, “a false narrative created a state of excitement in the country”, and now the way is being taken to escape from this false narrative.
General Bajwa said that “I am addressing you for the last time as Army Chief”, “I am retiring soon”.
He said that “former East Pakistan was not a soldier” it was a political failure, the number of fighting soldiers was not 92 thousand but only 34 thousand.
“Army’s interference in politics for 70 years is unconstitutional.”
He said, “I am proud to have been the commander-in-chief of this great army for 6 years. I pray that the army will raise the flags of success in the same way in the future.” said that
“The army will not interfere in any political issue in the future,” he said, “I assure you that they are strictly committed to it and will continue to do so.” A true democratic culture should be adopted in Pakistan while eliminating the atmosphere of tolerance.
In the 2018 elections, some parties used RTS as an excuse to give the winning party the title of “Selected”.
“After losing the vote of confidence in 2022, one party gave the title of imported to the other party,” he said.
“Everyone should keep in mind that there is a limit to patience”, “want to tolerate aggressive behavior against the army and move on”.
The Army Chief said that “I salute the greatness of the martyrs of Pakistan”, who are our pride, “I also appreciate the courage and patience of their families”. And “I assure you that the army will never leave them alone”. The Chief of Army Staff said that “during the 6-year period of Army Command, I went to condolence at the homes of thousands of martyrs”, “I always found their morale high”, which also boosted my morale. Reinforcement”, “I assure you all that “cannot reward your sacrifices”, “but will not let the sacrifices of your loved ones go in vain”.
General Qamar Javed Bawjoh said that “the main task of the Pakistan Army is to protect the geographical borders of the country, but the Pakistan Army is always busy serving the nation beyond its capabilities.” Fines, adding Pakistan to FATF’s whitelist, fencing the border, providing cheap gas from Qatar, or issuing loans from friendly countries, fighting Covid19. Be it the “eradication of locusts”, the relief operation among agriculture, the army has served the nation more than ever, and will continue to do so it will never be ignored.
He said that today I also want to discuss a topic that is avoided, “It is related to the performance of our army in erstwhile East Pakistan in 1971”. I want to do, “First of all, former East Pakistan was not a military but a political failure”, “The number of fighting soldiers was not 92 thousand but only 34 thousand”, the rest were in various government departments. The competition was with 250,000 Indian army and 200,000 trained Mukti Bahini. The sacrifices of Ghazis and martyrs have not been acknowledged by the nation till today, “Which is a great abuse”. I would like to pay tribute to all these Ghazis and martyrs.
The army chief said, “Finally, I would like to say something about the current political situation.” “Army does” but their people more or less criticize them, “On the contrary, the Pakistani army, which is busy day and night in the service of the nation”, is criticized from time to time. .
He said, “For me, the main reason for this is the military’s interference in politics in various forms for 70 years,” which is unconstitutional. After it was decided that “in future the army will not interfere in any political matter”, I assure you that “we are strictly committed to it” and will continue to be in the future, however the good of this constitutional process. Instead of taking the initiative, many circles criticized the army and used very inappropriate and rude language.
The army chief said that “criticism of the army is the right of the people and political parties”, but one should be careful in the choice and use of words. “Now this false narrative is being used to escape”.
He said, “I want to make it clear to you that the leadership of the army can do anything but can never go against the interest of the country.” “There is an external conspiracy and the armed forces will sit on their hands,” “It is impossible, but a great sin.”
“Those who think that they will create a rift between the army and the people,” said the army chief, “will always fail” to ask the army leadership to respond to this inappropriate invasion. There were many opportunities and resources but the army showed courage in the larger interest of the country “and refrained from making any negative statement but it should be noted that” this patience is also one of them. There is a limit”, “I want to forgive this inappropriate and aggressive behavior against me and the army and move forward” because Pakistan is better than all of us”, “Individuals and parties keep coming and going but Pakistan has InshAllah it will last forever.
He said that “the army has started its catharsis”, “I hope the political parties will review their behavior”, and “it is also a fact that every institution and civil society in Pakistan.” Mistakes have also been made”, we should learn from these mistakes” and ‘move on’.
The army chief said that “I can say with great confidence that Pakistan is suffering from serious economic problems today, and no single party can take Pakistan out of this economic crisis for which political “Stability is required”, “Now is the time for all stakeholders to put aside their personal egos, learn from past mistakes and move forward” and “bring Pakistan out of this crisis”.
He said, “Along with this, we have to understand the spirit of democracy and adopt a true democratic culture in Pakistan by eliminating the atmosphere of intolerance.”
“In the 2018 elections, some parties named the winning party as selected by using RTS as an excuse”, and “After losing the vote of confidence in 2022, one party to another party” imported. Entitled, “We must reject this attitude”.
He said that “defeat is a part of politics and every party has to develop the courage to accept its victory and defeat” so that instead of an imported or selected government in the next elections “an elected government will come”. “Democracy is the name of courage, tolerance and respect for the public opinion of the people”, “If Pakistan is to move forward, we have to give up intolerance and I don’t believe attitude”.
He said that “Pakistan is God’s blessing for us”, our existence is related to its security and survival, “martyrs have made immense sacrifices for its freedom and stability” and “we need them”. “I am proud of”, “I thank the families of the martyrs”, who came to this event and made this event colorful, “You are all the pride of the entire nation”, and this is the day of renewal of pledge. “Let us pledge together that we will keep alive the history of our martyrs and ghazis”, and “Together we will play our part in the improvement and development of Pakistan”.
He said that “the safety and integrity of the motherland is and will remain our first duty”, “to fulfill which we will not hesitate to make any sacrifice”, may Allah be our supporter and supporter. Long live Pak Army, long live Pakistan.
It should be noted that this event is held every year on September 6 at General Headquarters GHQ Rawalpindi to commemorate the sacrifices of the martyred heroes of the 1965 war, but this year to express solidarity with the flood victims across the country it was postponed.
Earlier, the event started with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a video showing solidarity with the flood victims regarding the recent devastating floods and the resulting massive destruction. Rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts of Pakistan Army were also shown.
A second footage was played, which also highlighted the role played by the Pakistan Army in important sectors like education and health across the country.
In the ceremony, famous singer Sahir Ali Baga sing a song ‘Dil Aur Krib Ajainge’.
A special documentary on the evolutionary journey of Pakistan Army ’75 Years of Valor and Humour’ was also shown.
The statement of the United Nations Secretary General appreciating the Pakistan Army for its efforts towards peace around the world was also included in the special video.
In the video, it was told that Pakistan was fined about 11 billion dollars in relation to the Rekodic project in Balochistan, but the Pakistani forces tried to resolve the dispute and the Kingdom of Khudadad did not have to pay the fine.
It was mentioned in the special documentary that in 2009, the then Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani launched Operation Rah Najat and later Zarb Azab to get rid of the scourge of terrorism in Pakistan, followed by the current Army Chief General Qamar Javed. Bajwa launched Radal al-Fasaad in 2017.
It should be remembered that Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa is retiring at the end of this month after 6 years of commanding the Pakistan Army. They were given an extension of three years after the legislation was passed on a court order regarding the term.
