Journalists from Afghanistan Media attended Pakistan Hockey Federation headquarters in Lahore on 12th April 2016. The group of journalists was invited through an exchange program by Pakistan Federation of Journalists. The group was briefed by Director General Pakistan Hockey Federation, Brig. (r) Musarrat Ullah Khan who explained the history and establishment of Pakistan Hockey Federation and its prominent initiatives in world hockey. Brig. (r) Musarrat Ullah Khan also explained that Pakistan introduced the hockey world cup in 1971 and Champion’s trophy in 1979, since then hockey has grasped its roots all over the world. Answering a question, DG-PHF explained that due to the challenging economic factors, talented players are steering away from hockey and pursuing more economically favorable career paths. Pakistan hockey has not been able to keep up with the ever changing technology, because of which players have not been able to update their knowledge and skill base in line with more developed international teams. Brig. (r) Musarrat then shared a visionary strategic plan that promises to develop and rejuvenate field hockey across the board in Pakistan. He also assured that Pakistan shall always extend support to Afghanistan in field hockey to the best of its capacity.
