ISIS terrorists involved in the attack on the Pakistani embassy in Kabul were killed?

ISLAMABAD; ISIS terrorists involved in the attack on the Pakistani embassy in Kabul were killed? This is the question that is on the mind of every Pakistani when yesterday, Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the Afghan Taliban, said that ‘’ A group of ISIS militants involved in the attack on the Pakistani embassy in Kabul “have been killed during the operation of the Afghan forces’’.

Like other people, ‘’I am also surprised by this statement because the recent behavior of the Afghan government has not been very good with Pakistan.

Remember that on December 2, 2022, there was an attack on the Pakistani embassy in Kabul, in which Head of mission, Chargé d’Affaires to Afghanistan Ubaidur Rehman Nizamani was targeted.  

According to the Foreign Office (FO), Pakistan’s embassy compound came under attack and while Chargé d’Affaires to Afghanistan Ubaidur Rehman Nizamani remained safe, a security guard was “critically injured” in the attack while protecting the mission head. Nizamani took charge of his position on November 4.

However, he was unharmed in the attack while his bodyguard was seriously injured, who was later shifted to Peshawar.

Moreover, ISIS’s Khorasan group claimed responsibility for the attack and confirmed it. That he targeted the Pakistani diplomat.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office later said it was “in constant touch with the Afghan authorities and expressed confidence that a thorough investigation will be carried out into the December 2 incident” and those responsible and their facilitators will be passed on to the culprit”.

In a newly released statement, Zabihullah Mujahid said that “Afghan security forces conducted operations against a ‘dangerous network’ of   ISIS  in Kabul.

“This dangerous network was involved in attacks on the Pakistani embassy and a hotel where Chinese nationals were staying.”

On December 12, 2022, China said that “5 of its citizens were injured in a bomb blast and a shooting attack”. Later, China asked its citizens to leave Afghanistan due to security concerns. 

 Afghan government spokesman further confirmed that “the militants killed in the operation were involved in operations, including a bomb attack near the military airport in Kabul and in several other cities.”

He said that a similar action was taken against ISISI in Nimroz province. He said that 8 militants of ISIS were killed in the operations conducted on Wednesday, many foreign terrorists are also included in the dead. .

Zabihullah Mujahid added that the slain terrorists had planned more attacks on key targets, bringing more ISIS militants from other countries into the country and planning more coordinated attacks.

The spokesman of the Afghan Taliban added that the operation in Kabul was carried out in Shudai Salehin, Kalacha and Zaranj, the capital of Nimroz province. During the operation, 3 hideouts of terrorists were destroyed.

During the operations, arms, grenades, ammunition, suicide vests and explosive materials were recovered from the hideouts of the terrorists and 7 members of ISIS were arrested while some other suspects were also detained for questioning.

The operation in Kabul has once again raised fears of ISIS activity in other areas, including the country’s capital, with the ruling Taliban generally downplaying the terror group’s threats in Afghanistan despite global reports of rising ISIS activity.
