Bank Al-Falah Subh-e-Nau Tennis-Pakistan No.1 Davis Cupper Aqeel Khan smells double crown

Islamabad- The Pakistan No.1 Davis Cupper Aqeel Khan added yet another feather to his cap as he clinched Bank Al-FalahSubh-e-Nau National Clay Court Tennis Championship Men’s Singles here at PTF Complex Tennis Courts on Saturday. Pakistan’s longest serving number one tennis player Aqeel Khan proved his dominance over his opponent M. Abid and bagged the title and 40 thousand rupees as prize money. His opponent was awarded with 25 thousand rupees as prize money and runners up trophy.

Earlier, paring with HeeraAshiq, Aqeel clinched Men’s doubles title after an interesting contest against Shehzad Khan and Yasir Khan. Aqeel and his partner Heera received 20 thousand rupees as prize money. Their runners up pair received 12 thousand rupees.

Sara Mansoorwon ladies singles title in her an easy contest against UshnaSuhail. She overpowered Ushna in straight sets. Earlier Usnhnahad defeated Sara Mahboob in second semifinal of Ladies Singles. This match could not be completed due to bad light on Friday. Winner of Ladies Singles won 30 thousand rupees as prize money while her opponent was awarded 18 thousand rupees and runners up trophy.

MuzammilMurtazaproved his dominance against Syed NofilKaleem to bag Boys U-18 title. Nofil showed some resistance in first set, however, he could not get a single game in second set. Muzammil received 12 thousand rupees as prize money while Nofil got 8 thousand rupees.

Shoaib Khan clinched Boys U-14 title and 10 thousand rupees as prize money. He won his match against Aquib Umar. Little Hameed Israr won Boys U-10 title after beating Roman in the final.

Prize distribution ceremony was held after Men’s Singles final. His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Saleem, Maldives High Commissioner to Pakistan was the Chief Guest on This Occasion. President Pakistan Tennis Federation Senator Salim Saifullah was also present on this occasion. Both the dignitaries distributed shields and certificates among participants. Speaking on the occasion, Senator Salim Saifullah praised Subh-e-Nau’s efforts and said that SN has given players an opportunity to flourish on Tennis horizon.  Ms. MahvishChishtie, Tournament Director, in her remarks thanked Sponsor Bank Al-Falah, Media and players for such a successful event.
