Mr. Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry Foreign Secretary heading the Pakistani delegation. Ambassador of Afghanistan Dr Hazrat Omer Zakhiwal. The US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Ambassador Richard Olson. The Chinese Special Envoy on Afghan Affairs Ambassador Deng Xijun is leading their respective delegations. Afghan reconciliation process is very important and quadrilateral efforts are continuing in this regard, the first direct talks between Afghan Taliban and government were held as a result of Pakistan’s efforts. At the fourth round of QCG in Kabul, Afghan Taliban was invited to the direct talks with Afghan government and Pakistan also offered to host the negotiations but the Afghan Taliban rejected talks while setting some preconditions. Improvement is vital for peace and stability in the region .Restoration of Afghan dialogue process is the common responsibility of all the four countries, sources to Foreign office Islamabad added. It is mentioned here that Pakistan, China and the United States are playing their vital role to bring Taliban to the negotiating table. The sources said that ‘’peace in Afghanistan is key to regional stability and Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace process is vital to achieve this objective’’. The proper border management is required to address concerns of Islamabad and Kabul, he added. The two sides are now working to corporate on security and counterterrorism issues. The people to people contacts should be enhanced to remove this mistrust, and step towards peace is to create an environment of trust between the two countries. The Quadrilateral Coordination Group earlier held its two meetings on January 11 and January 18 in Islamabad and Kabul, 6th February 2016 Islamabad respectively. The sources disclosed that representatives of Taliban groups from both side are also invited in Islamabad meeting. It is mention here that due to Mullah Omar’s death these talks were stopped and were resumed after about five months in Islamabad and four QCG meetings were held in Kabul and Islamabad respectively. But Taliban have rejected any talks with the Afghan government. While the people don’t know the details of peace process but know that Taliban would not be satisfied without concession or deal to peace as they have been fighting for many years, they will be fighting again. The afghan and Pakistani people have been the main victims of terrorism and every year thousands innocent citizens are killed or wounded in this war.
