Karate Queen Nargis first Pakistani female wins a medal in Asian Games, Jakarta, Indonesia

The Quetta’s Karate Queen Nargis create a history at Jakarta, Indonesia and becomes the first Pakistani to win a medal in Karate at the Asian Games. She outplayed Nepal’s Rita Karki 3-1 to claim bronze in the +68kg event in Indonesia. Mean while the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor congratulated the Miss. Nargis on winning Bronze Medal in Karate, Asian Games, Jakarta, Indonesia. In a tweet, DG ISPR said ‘’ it is a matter of pride for Pakistan. Well done ‘’
Hailing from Quetta’s persecuted Hazara community; the 19-year-old is following in the footsteps of Kulsoom Hazara who won the South Asian Championships earlier. The female Karate Kas have been striving hard to make their name in the sport and Nargis’ bronze is the much needed head way. She is also the first Pakistani female to win a karate medal at the Asian Games. “I had the expectation of winning the medal, my friends and my coaches everyone was expecting this, I gave everything on the floor,” Nargis said while talking to media. Encouraging other female athletes Nargis added: “I believe that Pakistanis should not make excuses anymore; that are my advice to other female athletes. We always think that being a Pakistani we can’t achieve much, but we can. Pakistani woman player Miss. Nargis defeated Nepal’s Rita Karki in women’s +68kg Karate tournament and won bronze medal. This was the second medal for Pakistan in Asian Games 2018.Nargis became first Pakistani woman to wins a medal in Asian Games. Pakistan had won their first bronze when men’s Kabaddi team lost to South Korea in the semi-finals.
