By, Asghar Ali Mubarak Islamabad- The U-18 Girls National Hockey Championship powered by Strawberry Sports Management will be inaugurated on 1st March 2016 at Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium, Islamabad. The Championship is an annual activity of PHF Women’s Wing. This is the fourth edition. It is an eight teams’ tournament spread over six days where all Provincial teams and few departmental teams participate.The S&I Sports is the title sponsor while Strawberry Sports Management is managing sponsorship and marketing of the event.The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), announced the opening of the S & I 4th U-18 Girls National Hockey Championship powered by Strawberry Sports Management at a dignified ceremony at Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium, Islamabad. The S&I Sports is the title sponsor while Strawberry Sports Management is managing sponsorship and marketing of the event. Director of S&I Mr. Mustafa Humayun expressed his delight at the opportunity to sponsor such an event, and said that the event was in line with S&I Sports’ vision to promote sports for greater peace and development in Pakistan. He further emphasized the need for women to take part in sports. Mr. Haider Ali Daud Khan, CEO of Strawberry Sports Management; termed the event as part of the journey for the revival of the country’ national sport.The PHF also expressed its resolve to cultivate talent for both the Men’s and Women’s Teams and to put in concerted efforts to revive hockey in Pakistan, and become again the giant that Pakistan Hockey once was. Mean while the Second phase of training camp of national hockey for Sultan Azlan Shah Cup will be held at, Lahore from 5th March 2016 the a weeklong camp was established at Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium, Islamabad.The second phase of training camp of national senior probables preparing for participation in the 25thSultan Azlan Shah Cup will be established at Johar Hockey Stadium, Lahore on 5th March 2016.The PHF has directed following players to report to Mr. Abdul Hanif Khan Manager/Camp Commandant at Johar Town Hockey Stadium, Lahore on 5th March 2016/afternoon, positively:-Imran Butt, Amjad Ali, Mazhar Abbas, Yasir & Waleed (GKs); Muhammad Irfan, Muhammad Aleem Bilal, Syed Kashif Shah, Asad Aziz, Nawaz, Ijaz Ahmad, Siddique Salman, Khalid Bhatti, Sultan Amir & Munawar Kakar (FULL BACKS); Fareed Ahmed, Rashid Mahmood, Tasawar Abbas, Muhammad Rizwan Junior, Muhammad Touseeq Arshad, Saleem Nazim, Zohaib Ashraf, Kashif Javaid, Ali Hassan, Faisal Qadir, Rehan Ashraf & Qazi Asfand Yar (HALVES).
