Defending Champion Pakistan Army retain the title of National Taekwondo Championship 2015 by getting 30 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze Medals

Islamabad -The Medals, friendships and a spectacular send-off as ‘warmest-ever’ National Taekwondo Championship 2015 Closes. The Pakistan Army defending Champion retain the title National Taekwondo Championship 2015 by getting 30 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze Medals (734 Points), whereas Pakistan WAPDA stood Second by getting 2 Gold, 7 Silver and 16 Bronze Medals (334 Points) andPakistan Army (Green) stands at Third Position by getting 2 Gold, 9 Silver and 6 Bronze Medals (265 Points).Some of the finest young athletes from across the country tonight (17 September) brought the flag down on five unforgettable days of great sporting achievements and new Taekwondo friendships forged on the Federal Capital Islamabad  as the National Taekwondo Championship 2015  came to an emotional end.Young people mostly aged 14-25 from 8 provincial associations i.e Punjab, Sindh, KPK, Baluchistan, Gilgit Baltistan, AJK, Islamabad and 7 Departments i.e WAPDA, Railway, Navy, Police, Pakistan Army, PAF and HEC joined with a cast of Organizing Team and a host of VIPs including the Minister of Petroleum , Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as Chief Guest , Dr Song Jong – Hw , South Korean Ambassador, Director Army Sports, Brig Ghulam Jilani, Imran Khattak,  Zonal Manager Engro Foods as Guests of Honor for a spectacular  Closing Ceremony which formally ended with the spirit “the warmest, friendliest National Championship ever”.
Commenting on the overwhelming success of the National Taekwondo Championship 2015, PTF President Lt Col (R) Waseem Ahmed Janua said: “Islamabad and Pakistan Sports Board has truly delivered, in every sense, the warmest, friendliest National Taekwondo Championship 2015 ever. The Organizing Committee of this Championship has done a fantastic job not simply delivering the logistics of these Games; it is the sincere spirit and genuine warmth with which the Taekwondo Family have embraced us all that will live long in our memories.“I speak for all athletes and officials who have had the privilege to share this special sporting moment when I thank the entire Taekwondo Family, PSB, Honourable Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Dr Song Jong – Hw South Korean Ambassador, Engro Foods alongwith other sponsors and entire Taekwondo Family sincerely for your hard work, your commitment to the Taekwondo Sports, and most of all your friendship. We will all leave this beautiful place with a greater appreciation of the powerful sporting connections and values that unite us and with many, many more friends.”Over five days, 400 athletes have competed for gold and glory across 35 categories against a lush sporting Venue. A total of 60 Gold, 60 Silver and 120 Bronze Medals were awarded. The Minister of Petroleum, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said: “Islamabad takes great pride in representing the sports as host of the National Taekwondo Championship. We hope all our visitors and new friends have enjoyed our hospitality over the last week and had a chance to explore our city and enjoyed the weather. The Government places high priority on sports development as a way for our young people to create successful futures for themselves. The power of sport is in bringing people together and what better way to encourage tolerance and appreciation of the diverse world in which we live, than with inclusive sporting events such as this National Championship.
