Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif vows to stay on mission course

ISLAMABAD–Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday stated that it is hard to understand the real agenda of protesters led-by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri and made it clear that no long or short marches can deviate him from the mission of progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
No group will be allowed to play with the destiny of the nation and there will be only rule of law and constitution in the 21st century Pakistan.
Speaking at the joint sitting of the parliament today, he categorically made it clear that nobody will be allowed to use axe against the democracy. No anarchist group will be allowed to play with the destiny of the nation.
Nawaz Sharif urged the protesting parties to shun the course of violence and anarchy for the betterment of the country.He said it was not difficult for the government to get the constitution avenue vacated from the protesters but it demonstrated utmost patience and tolerance for those women and children who are being used as a human shield in the sit-ins. We will continue with the policy of restraint but those playing nefarious game on the constitution avenue will have to face the court of masses one day for their anti Pakistan acts, he declared.The Prime Minister emphatically stated that he has no lust for power but he will fulfill his constitutional responsibility as per the mandate given by one hundred and eighty million people of this country. He said no violence, chaos long or short march can divert his attention from the mission to serve the people. He said he will not set a wrong tradition of resigning under any pressure on the demand of handful elements. This parliament, he said, does not represent any particular party or group but is the symbol of supremacy of democracy and constitution. Attacks and contempt of the state institutions including the prime minister house, parliament and the PTV amounts to the contempt of the people. He said the protesting leaders are playing the nefarious game on the pretext of ‘Azadi’ and ‘revolution’.About the steps taken by the government for the resolution of current political crisis, Nawaz Sharif said despite negative attitude of the protestors, committees were constituted to resolve the issue through dialogue. However, it is regrettable that the other side continued their provocative and mudslinging campaign. He said we have open heatedly accepted demands of both the parties. FIR which also includes his name as well as that of Shahbaz Sharif has been registered as per the demand of Pakistan Awami Tehreek. However, the other side is not showing any flexibility.
Rejecting rigging allegations of Pakistan Tehreek-e Insaaf in 2013 elections, the prime minister said the last elections were declared as the most transparent and fair by the international observers. He said allegations of rigging have been hurled on several personalities and institutions but not a single evidence of any organized rigging has been produced as yet.
The Prime Minister said the acts of a few thousand people are making a mockery of the entire country which also led to cancellation of several important visits of foreign dignitaries including that of the Chinese president. He said the Chinese president is currently on a visit to India and signing agreements worth billions of rupees but Pakistan has been deprived to host this important friend.Deploring the civil disobedience and other unconstitutional calls of the protesting leaders, the prime minister said the drama has been staged at a time when country is engaged in the war against terror and the floods have caused deaths and destruction in different parts of the country.
He lauded all the political parties, media, civil society and entire Pakistani nation for their support to democracy and democratic institutions.
The Prime Minister asked the sin ins leaders to reconsider their attitude and vowed that the government will not all the rule of might is right.
