INDONESIAN NAVAL CHIEF VISITS PAKISTAN NAVAL HEADQUARTERS; AGREES TO EXPAND MARITIME COOPERATION AND BILATERAL DEFENCE TIES
ISLAMABAD — Chief of the Indonesian Navy, Admiral Dr. Muhammad Ali, called on Pakistan’s Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, at the Naval Headquarters in Islamabad. The high-profile diplomatic visit aimed to strengthen existing military-to-military relations and address strategic defense ties between the two brotherly maritime nations.
Upon his arrival at the Naval Headquarters, Admiral Dr. Muhammad Ali was presented with an official Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out Pakistan Navy contingent. The visiting dignitary then laid a floral wreath at the Shuhada Monument to honor the sacrifices of Pakistan’s fallen heroes.
During their formal meeting, both naval chiefs engaged in comprehensive discussions concerning matters of mutual interest, regional maritime security dynamics, and paths to expand bilateral naval collaboration. The leadership reaffirmed their shared resolve to broaden operational cooperation through regular professional training programs, reciprocal high-level visits, and joint naval exercises. Admiral Ali commended the Pakistan Navy’s continuous efforts and valuable contributions toward ensuring peace and maintaining collaborative stability in the regional maritime domain.
As part of his itinerary, the Indonesian Naval Chief traveled to Karachi to interact closely with the Pakistan Navy Field Commanders. His visit there included a tour of the Pakistan Navy Fleet Unit and a briefing at the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC). Admiral Ali also met with the Managing Director of the Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works to explore avenues for industrial and technical defense collaboration. This strategic visit signifies a mutual commitment to deeper defense integration and long-term maritime safety partnerships between Pakistan and Indonesia.
