Eight teams confirmed for ICC Champions Trophy 2017 by ICC.
The Top eight teams qualified for the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 are Australia, India, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, England, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
Champions Trophy 2017 will be a 15-match tournament, with teams split into two groups of four.
The 30th September 2017 is the next important cut-off date, which is for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

Islamabad– The Bangladesh cricket team will participate in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 start from 1st June to 18th June 2018, the Bangladeshi will return to the ICC Champions Trophy for the first time since 2006 after the eight sides are confirmed for the 2017 tournament. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will be the host for this mega event begins from 1 to 18 June. The Bangladesh team has replaced the West Indies, which finished outside the top eight in ninth positions, in the ICC ODI Team Rankings on the 30 September 2015 cut-off date. The eight sides to play in the short and sharp, nation-versus-nation ICC Champions Trophy 2017 are (in rankings order): world champion Australia, title holder India, 1998 winner South Africa, 2000 champion New Zealand, 2002 co-winner Sri Lanka, host England, Bangladesh and Pakistan. The Bangladesh’s last participation in the ICC Champions Trophy was in India, when it featured in the qualifying round. It lost to Sri Lanka (by 37 runs) and the West Indies (by 10 wickets). Its only victory was against Zimbabwe by 101 runs. Since the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, Bangladesh cricket has been on a high and has produced very strong performances. It won ODI series against Pakistan, India and South Africa, which has helped it jump from ninth to seventh in the ICC ODI Team Rankings. The ICC Champions Trophy 2017 will be a 15-match tournament, with teams split into two groups of four, with the top two teams in each group progressing to the semi-finals. The groups and the schedule for the ICC Champions Trophy will be announced in due course. With the sides for the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 now confirmed, the next important qualification date in the diaries of the 12 teams on the ICC ODI Team Rankings will be 30 September 2017.That is the date when the top eight ranked sides on the ICC ODI Team Rankings will earn direct qualification for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 to be hosted by the ECB. The bottom four sides will get a second chance to complete the 10-team line-up in the ICC Cricket World Cup when they will be joined by teams from the ICC World Cricket League Championship and the ICC World Cricket League Division 2 in the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2018.As such, all bilateral ODI cricket in the lead up to 30 September 2017, including the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, will now have greater importance as only 27 points separate second-ranked India from ninth-ranked West Indies.

Champion trophy is the big and most awaited cricket tournament which is played after the gap of 4 years, and it is organized by ICC (International cricket council). This is the second biggest cricket tournament after Cricket World cup. In 1998, this tournament was known as ICC knock-out tournament but in 2002, its name was changed into ICC Champions trophy. ICC announces the host countries for all global events such as Champions trophy 2017 would be played in England and Wales while T20 world cup 2016 would be hosted in India in 2016. The ODI World cup at England in 2019 and in 2020 T20 World cup would be played in Australia.
As we know that, cricket is very popular and famous game among all youngsters and all people want to see and enjoy these types of tournaments. So for this purpose ICC arranged this tournament in which 8 teams come to fight for the trophy. In Start, Champion trophy was held after 2 years but now it take the gap of 4 years. Every team works hard and gives tough time to their opponents in order to win Champions trophy. Only top 8 Teams can qualify for it.
HISTORY OF CHAMPIONS TROPHY
Only Top 8 highest ranked teams will only participate in ICC Champions trophy 2017. The next ICC champion’s trophy will be held at Wales and England on 1 June to 19 June 2017; this is the 8th edition of champion’s trophy. The host country England and 7 highest ranked teams will participate in this tournament. The last time “INDIA” grabs the ICC Champions trophy by defeating England in 2013.
Last tournament was held in 2013 and at that time ICC decides to end the tournament and offers the test championship but ICC confirmed in January 2014 the England will host the Champions trophy in 2017 and postponed the test champion ship till 2019. The World test championship will be replaced with Champion trophy while the 2nd edition of world test championship will be held at India in February and March 2021.
The current and final format of ICC Champions trophy 2017 is that 8 highest-ranked ODI teams play a round robin tournament in order to enter the final knock-out stages and then the winner team is decided. As we look back we see that India and Australia have been the most successful teams because these teams won this title 2 times each.
Still ICC has not announced the detailed equipment of the trophy. According to the ODI ranking, Pakistan, Bangladesh and West Indies are the low ranked teams and now we see the battle between these three teams. These 3 teams are separated from each other by only 1 point. West Indies have 88 points and is on 7th position, Bangladesh has 88 points and is on 8th position while Pakistan have 87 points and is on 9th position. If Pakistan needs to participate in ICC Champions trophy 2017, they must improve their ODI ranking before 30 September 2015.
HOSTING COUNTRY
Once again, England and Wales are recommended for 2017 Champions trophy because they successfully organized all matches of this event in 2013. The venues and format of 2013 champion’s trophy were extremely appreciated by the cricket fans and the record numbers of fans are turned to this event in 2013. England is the beautiful place to play cricket but there is a little issue and the issue is if champion’s trophy is held in England so England has obvious advantage to play in their home ground because England is brilliant in their home.
The final ODI ranking has also seen England and New Zealand head in the opposite direction. New Zealand gives made the tough time to its opponent because New Zealand was also the runner-up of the World cup 2015. New Zealand is the 3rd high ranked team ahead of South Africa. In 2017 Champion trophy, total 8 teams will play and matches are scheduled from 1 June 2017 to 19 June 2017 in England and Wales.
GROUNDS
ECB has proposed Edgbaston, oval and the Cardiff to ICC as hosting venues for ICC Champions trophy in 2017.The chairman of the ECB Giles Clarke said that “There has no such a concerted and planned period of high-level International cricket in Wales and England. ECB also host three big global tournaments with the 2017 Champions trophy, 2017 ICC women’s world cup, and 2019 ICC cricket world cup within the two years”.
The England and Wales cricket board warmly welcomed all the speculators and participating team and they sure that this time they also fulfill the needs of ICC, they said that this is golden time for us to bring speculators much closer to cricket and we can do it from the experience of 2013 Champions trophy and it is highly appreciated by public and ICC.
Chief Executive of ICC David Richardson said that “The ECB has good experience and long-standing fame for its capability to host global events and ICC is also excited that ECB is hosting big 3 global events from 2017 till 2019.
Current ICC Teams Ranking
The final names of the participating teams will announce after the completion of series between these two groups Pakistan v/s Sri Lanka in July and Bangladesh Vs South Africa. According to the T20 ranking, the top 3 position of T20 will remain same while West Indies come at the 4th position by pushing Pakistan to 5th position and New Zealand come at the 6th position by pushing South Africa to 7th position.
There is a tie between West Indies and Australia because both teams have five points, South Africa at the 6th position, Scotland at the 7th position and Netherland at 8th position.
Now everywhere there are Roamers about the upcoming Champions trophy 2017, on every tongue. As we know that Icc Champions trophy 2017 is taken by only one team, but the celebration of this tournament is going to be great, everyone awaits for this tournament. There will be very tough competition for number 8th team which will qualify. Before qualifying for the tournament all the three teams, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and West Indies have to win their ODI series to become the 8th participant of the tournament.
