Eid Milad-un-Nabi (peace be upon him) was a blessed and joyful holiday, when the celebration of the arrival of the Mercy of All Worlds, Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (peace be upon him), and the mention of the greatest message of peace and love in the universe were going on everywhere. I was at home when suddenly my three-year-old son, Zargham Abbas, brought his mobile phone in his tiny hands and showed me a picture.

In the picture, a man dressed as Spider-Man was riding on someone’s shoulder and a shocking international news story was attached to it.

My son Zargham Abbas cannot even speak properly yet, but among the few words that come out clearly from his stammering tongue, one word is “Spider-Man”.

He is so crazy about this fictional character that he always dreams of doing action like him and saving the world.

Seeing this innocent joy and stubbornness of my son, I promised to get him a new Spider-Man costume, but when I clicked on this news and picture out of curiosity, a truth opened before me that left me in a state of astonishment.

It turned out that the person wearing this Spider-Man costume is not a Muslim, but a 33-year-old American non-Muslim citizen, Nicholas William Love II, from Inver Grove Heights. But the feat he accomplished made him a much bigger and more real-life hero than the fictional Spider-Man of Hollywood movies. This incident took place in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where Jake Lang, the controversial and right-wing extremist character of the January 6 Capitol Hill attack, blinded by Islamophobia, organized a rally in an attempt to hurt the feelings of Muslims and burn the Holy Quran.

When this extremist, along with his armed security personnel and vehicles, proceeded to trample the crowd on the pedestrian path (sidewalk) and spread hatred, Nicholas William (Spider-Man) who was there, without caring for his life, jumped onto the moving vehicle and came to the front line to stop this seditious convoy.

The OIC should work with Google and other major technology companies to formulate a censorship policy to filter and block Islamophobic content on social media platforms (X, Facebook, YouTube).
