Pakistan has demanded concrete and verifiable action from the Afghan Taliban against terrorist networks, stating that terrorist hideouts, recruitment, and support structures on Afghan soil pose a direct threat to Pakistan’s security. Condemning the threat issued against Pakistan by Zabihullah Mujahid, the Ministry of Information asserted that alongside condemning the Kohat attack, practical measures against terrorist hideouts are essential.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the Kohat Police Lines and urged the Afghan Taliban to take action against terrorist networks operating from Afghanistan, calling on them to dismantle these networks rather than evade their responsibilities.
According to the Ministry, one of the suicide bombers involved in the Kohat attack has been identified as an Afghan national named Matiullah, while the process of verifying the identity of the second suicide attacker is ongoing. The Ministry stated that the identification of the attacker as an Afghan national has further reinforced long-standing concerns regarding terrorism originating from Afghan soil and targeting Pakistan.
The mosque within the Kohat Police Lines was targeted during Friday prayers. A clearance operation following the attack continued until Saturday, resulting in the deaths of eight terrorists. A total of 23 people—including 17 police personnel and six civilians—lost their lives in the attack, while over 100 others were injured. According to the police, the attack began with a suicide blast near the mosque, after which some of the attackers entered the Special Branch building. The Ministry of Information stated that Pakistan has repeatedly raised the issue of Afghan soil being used by Fitna-ul-Khawarij and other terrorist groups to plan and execute attacks within Pakistan with the Afghan Taliban government and relevant quarters.
The statement noted that terrorist hideouts, recruitment networks, and support structures within Afghanistan pose a direct threat to Pakistan’s security. Pakistan has called upon the Afghan Taliban to take credible, verifiable, and sustained measures to eliminate terrorist hideouts, dismantle recruitment and training networks, and halt the planning of attacks against Pakistan.
The Ministry condemned the threat of a “crushing response” issued to Pakistan by Afghan Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, stating that Afghan authorities should take action against these terrorist networks rather than issuing threats to Pakistan.
The Ministry of Information also acknowledged the Afghan Foreign Ministry’s condemnation of the Kohat attack and its expression of sympathy for the affected families; however, it emphasized that mere condemnation is insufficient. According to the statement, concrete actions against terrorist hideouts must accompany such condemnation.
The Ministry affirmed that while Pakistan remains committed to a policy of dialogue and constructive engagement with the Afghan Taliban, it will not allow the pretext of dialogue to be used to shield elements that pose a threat to Pakistani citizens.
The statement made it clear that Pakistan will take all necessary measures, in accordance with international law, to safeguard its citizens, territory, and sovereignty.
The Ministry of Information also urged the international community to press the Afghan Taliban to take decisive and verifiable actions against the threat of terrorism. The statement warned that the continued presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan could exacerbate regional instability and heighten broader security concerns.Following the devastating suicide bombing and gun assault at the Old Police Lines complex in Kohat, the Government of Pakistan has formally called upon the interim Afghan Taliban regime to dismantle terrorist sanctuaries, recruitment hubs, and training networks operating on its soil. The Information Ministry issued a stern warning, stating that Islamabad possesses both the “will and capability” to eliminate threats to its national security wherever they originate.
The Assault & Casualties:
On Friday, mid-day attackers rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a mosque situated inside the district police headquarters during Friday prayers. The blast triggered an intense 22-hour clearance operation and heavy exchange of fire between law enforcement and militants holed up in the facility. The attack left at least 31 people dead, including 16 police personnel, and more than 100 others injured, reducing a major portion of the mosque to rubble.
The Afghan Connection:
Investigative teams and security officials have identified one of the key suicide bombers involved as Matiullah, confirmed to be an Afghan national. حملے کی تفصیلات اور نقصانات:
جمعہ کے روز کوہاٹ پولیس ہیڈ کوارٹر کے اندر واقع مسجد میں نمازِ جمعہ کے دوران بارود سے بھری گاڑی کے ذریعے زوردار دھماکا کیا گیا، جس کے بعد دہشت گردوں اور سیکورٹی فورسز کے درمیان طویل جھڑپ شروع ہوئی۔ اس ہولناک حملے کے نتیجے میں اب تک 16 پولیس اہلکاروں سمیت کم از کم 31 افراد شہید اور 100 سے زائد زخمی ہو چکے ہیں۔ دھماکے سے مسجد کی عمارت کو شدید نقصان پہنچا اور وہ ملبے کا ڈھیر بن گئی۔
افغان لنک اور سیکورٹی شواہد:
سیکورٹی ذرائع اور ابتدائی تحقیقات کے مطابق، حملے میں ملوث ایک خودکش بمبار کی شناخت مطیع اللہ کے نام سے ہوئی ہے جو افغان شہری تھا۔ اس واقعے نے پاکستان کے ان دیرینہ خدشات کو مزید پختہ کر دیا ہے کہ کالعدم تحریکِ طالبان پاکستان (TTP) اور دیگر شدت پسند گروہ افغان سر زمین کو پاکستان کے خلاف استعمال کر رہے ہیں۔
پاکستان نے افغان طالبان سے دہشت گرد نیٹ ورکس کے خلاف ٹھوس اور قابلِ تصدیق کارروائی کا مطالبہ کرتے ہوئے کہا ہے کہ افغان سرزمین پر دہشت گردوں کے ٹھکانے، بھرتی اور معاونت کا ڈھانچہ پاکستان کی سلامتی کے لیے براہ راست خطرہ ہے۔ وزارتِ اطلاعات نے ذبیح اللہ مجاہد کی پاکستان کو دھمکی کو قابل مذمت قرار دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ کوہاٹ حملے کی مذمت کے ساتھ دہشت گرد ٹھکانوں کے خلاف عملی اقدامات بھی ضروری ہیں۔
وزارت اطلاعات و نشریات نے کوہاٹ پولیس لائنز پر دہشت گرد حملے کی شدید مذمت کرتے ہوئے افغان طالبان پر زور دیا ہے کہ وہ افغانستان سے سرگرم دہشت گرد نیٹ ورکس کے خلاف کارروائی کریں اور اپنی ذمہ داری سے انحراف کے بجائے ان نیٹ ورکس کو ختم کریں۔
وزارت کے مطابق کوہاٹ حملے میں ملوث ایک خودکش بمبار کی شناخت مطیع اللہ نامی افغان شہری کے طور پر ہوئی ہے، جبکہ دوسرے خودکش حملہ آور کی شناخت کی تصدیق کا عمل جاری ہے۔ وزارت نے کہا کہ حملہ آور کی افغان شہری کے طور پر شناخت نے افغان سرزمین سے پاکستان میں دہشت گردی کے حوالے سے دیرینہ خدشات کو مزید تقویت دی ہے۔
کوہاٹ پولیس لائنز میں جمعہ کی نماز کے دوران مسجد کو نشانہ بنایا گیا تھا۔ حملے کے بعد کلیئرنس آپریشن ہفتے تک جاری رہا، جس میں 8 دہشت گرد مارے گئے۔ حملے میں 17 پولیس اہلکاروں اور 6 شہریوں سمیت 23 افراد جاں بحق جبکہ 100 سے زائد زخمی ہوئے۔ پولیس کے مطابق حملہ مسجد کے قریب خودکش دھماکے سے شروع ہوا، جس کے بعد بعض حملہ آور اسپیشل برانچ کی عمارت میں داخل ہوگئے۔
وزارت اطلاعات نے کہا کہ پاکستان نے فتنۃ الخوارج اور دیگر دہشت گرد گروہوں کی جانب سے افغان سرزمین کو پاکستان میں حملوں کی منصوبہ بندی اور کارروائیوں کے لیے استعمال کیے جانے کا معاملہ افغان طالبان حکومت اور اس کے متعلقہ حلقوں کے سامنے بارہا اٹھایا ہے۔
بیان میں کہا گیا کہ افغانستان میں دہشت گردوں کے ٹھکانے، بھرتی کے نیٹ ورکس اور معاونتی ڈھانچہ پاکستان کی سلامتی کے لیے براہ راست خطرہ ہیں۔ پاکستان نے افغان طالبان سے مطالبہ کیا کہ دہشت گردوں کے ٹھکانے ختم کرنے، بھرتی و تربیتی نیٹ ورکس کو توڑنے اور پاکستان کے خلاف حملوں کی منصوبہ بندی روکنے کے لیے قابلِ اعتماد، قابلِ تصدیق اور مستقل اقدامات کیے جائیں۔
وزارت نے افغان طالبان کے ترجمان ذبیح اللہ مجاہد کی جانب سے پاکستان کو دی گئی ’کرشنگ رسپانس‘ کی دھمکی کو قابل مذمت قرار دیا اور کہا کہ افغان حکام کو پاکستان کو دھمکیاں دینے کے بجائے ان دہشت گرد نیٹ ورکس کے خلاف کارروائی کرنی چاہیے۔
وزارت اطلاعات نے افغان وزارت خارجہ کی جانب سے کوہاٹ حملے کی مذمت اور متاثرہ خاندانوں سے اظہارِ ہمدردی کا بھی نوٹس لیا، تاہم کہا کہ صرف مذمت کافی نہیں۔ بیان کے مطابق مذمت کے ساتھ دہشت گرد ٹھکانوں کے خلاف ٹھوس اقدامات بھی ضروری ہیں۔
وزارت نے کہا کہ پاکستان مذاکرات اور افغان طالبان کے ساتھ تعمیری روابط کی پالیسی پر عمل پیرا رہا ہے، تاہم ایسے عناصر کو تحفظ فراہم کرنے کے لیے مذاکرات کا سہارا لینے کی اجازت نہیں دی جائے گی جو پاکستانی شہریوں کے لیے خطرہ ہیں۔
بیان میں واضح کیا گیا کہ پاکستان اپنے شہریوں، سرزمین اور خودمختاری کے تحفظ کے لیے عالمی قانون کے مطابق تمام ضروری اقدامات کرے گا۔
وزارت اطلاعات نے عالمی برادری سے بھی مطالبہ کیا کہ وہ افغان طالبان پر دہشت گردی کے خطرے کے خلاف فیصلہ کن اور قابلِ تصدیق اقدامات کے لیے زور ڈالے۔ بیان میں خبردار کیا گیا کہ افغانستان میں دہشت گرد گروہوں کی مسلسل موجودگی علاقائی عدم استحکام اور وسیع تر سکیورٹی خدشات کو بڑھا سکتی ہے۔
